Bangladesh Crisis: Sheikh Hasina tends Resignation

Introduction

The Bangladesh crisis has sent shock waves across the world as one of the most politically sensitive countries in the world has turned topsy-turvy. Its tumultuous history has been a constant source of concern for its neighboring countries, especially India.

It was in 1947 that India was cut into two, with West Punjab becoming West Pakistan and East Bengal becoming East Pakistan, rechristening Bangladesh upon liberation following the Indo-Pak war of 1971, where more than 90,000 Pak soldiers laid down their arms in surrender in front of Indian Armed Forces.

The 1971 Indo Pak war sorted out the Bangladesh crisis

Since then, Bangladesh has seen many political developments in the past 53 years, with the most recent one throwing national security into jeopardy as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tended her resignation and fled the country. This was due to massive protests by students against the government’s job quota system that were rapidly increasing since June 2024.

The protests initially began as a demand for merit-based job reservations but have grown into a broader movement against the government. They took an extremely dangerous turn on August 5 when many protesters stormed Ganabhaban, the Prime Minister’s official residence, looting and creating havoc all over the place, mere hours after Ms. Hasina fled to Delhi on a helicopter.

With the turn of events, it has become clear that Bangladesh has fallen under military rule, thereby prompting a massive security threat to all its neighbors as they might see massive infiltration from Bangladeshis in the coming days, prompting India to take immediate action against the situation as Home Minister Amit Shah and NSA Ajit Doval have assured citizens of complete safety.

Bangladesh Crisis: Conclusion

This coup d’état is a danger signal for India, as it is very likely to happen there as well. The central government has assured its citizens to keep the borders safe as unscrupulous elements both inside and outside Indian soil have sprung into action as they plan to create havoc all around.

The Bangladesh crisis is a lesson not just for India and all its neighboring countries but for the entire world that festering dangerous elements can prove fatal for the security of the country and its people, as said elements would soon rage beyond any control and do as they please.
